| Hornets Lose to Tornadoes, 6-1 | The Kansas City Tornadoes got a stellar effort from pitcher Luis Hernández, helping Kansas City score a 6-1 win over the visiting Eureka Hornets. Nate Miller got the save, the 2nd for him this season. The Tornadoes, now 4-0, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Had Lazarus Obombo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Obombo hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Tornadoes.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Kansas City manager Fernando Vargas.
