| Cornhuskers Jolt Marauders with Late Rally | The Bradenton Marauders got a superb performance from pitcher Pat Welch. Still, it wasn't enough to beat DeKalb. The Cornhuskers won the game, 4-2. In spite of the loss, Welch was named the player of the game. He threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball. With the win, DeKalb goes to 34-39, while the Marauders fall to 30-44.
The Cornhuskers got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Ryosaku Nishimura. For the game, Nishimura was 1-1. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the ninth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 22nd hit of the season gave DeKalb a 4-2 lead.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Nishimura.
