| Tune-Ups Need Extras to Top Beetlecats | The Youngstown Tune-Ups topped the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats, 5-4, in Cory Lidle League action at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum. The player of the game was Youngstown shortstop Nick Ashburn. Youngstown reliever Keisaburo Kanada was credited with the win, to go to 3-0. Tien Tran-Dinh took the loss for Buzzard's Bay. The Tune-Ups are now 30-39, while the Beetlecats fall to 31-36.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Brandon Kessler came to bat in the bottom of the 12th. Facing Buzzard's Bay pitcher Tien Tran-Dinh, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Youngstown on top, 5-4.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Buzzard's Bay manager Cal Gray.
