| Wolverines Get One-Run Win at Cincinnati | Cincinnati got a terrific performance from first baseman Zach Riordan, but it wasn't enough to beat the Wichita Wolverines. Wichita won the The Studio contest, 5-4. Riordan was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Wichita reliever Tony Maldonado picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Lorenzo Diaz shouldered the loss. Joel Stapleton converted his 20th save in 24 tries.
Bill Hopgood was 1-3 with 2 walks for Wichita. The 25-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Lorenzo Diaz. It was his 10th walk of the season.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Cincinnati manager Rob Penn.
The Wolverines bumped their record to 36-30 with this latest triumph.
