Wolverines Get Close Win Over Marauders

The Wichita Wolverines topped the Bradenton Marauders, 2-1, in Roy Halladay League action at Howling Park. The player of the game was Wichita pitcher and Casas Adobes, Arizona native David Diaz. Wichita reliever Ken Morita got the win, raising his record to 3-1. Jorge Arellano was tagged with the loss. The Wolverines bumped their record to 35-29 with this latest triumph.

Had John Matchim not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Matchim hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Wolverines.

Diaz called the triumph "a good team win."
