Ducks Solve Cornhuskers, 4-2

The Long Island Ducks picked up a win at Long Island Stadium, knocking off the DeKalb Cornhuskers, 4-2. Starting pitcher Francisco Valdez, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Long Island reliever Jian-guo Yang was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Tim Medlin took the loss for DeKalb. Josh Huntsman notched his 1st save in 3 chances.

Had Vincent Robinson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Robinson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Ducks.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Robinson said.

With the win, Long Island goes to 26-35, while the Cornhuskers fall to 27-35.
