Nakai Helps Jacksonville Outscore Silicon Valley
The Jacksonville-Silicon Valley matchup at Hellcats Park turned into a real hit parade.

The Jacksonville Hellcats bested the Silicon Valley Hackers, 12-10, at Hellcats Park. Ryoji Nakai was named player of the game. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5. Mario Cruz converted his 18th save in 18 tries.

Nakai contributed a big hit, a 2-run single, for Jacksonville in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 5-4, Nakai took a fastball from Josh Bradshaw and stroked the single to left. His 2nd hit of the season allowed the Hellcats to leap in front, 6-5.

Hellcats manager Ben McBean wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."

Jacksonville is now 26-35, while Silicon Valley is 30-31.
