| Wolverines Need Extras to Top Storm Troopers | The Wichita Wolverines beat the San Antonio Storm Troopers, 5-2, in 11 innings. Wichita first baseman Bill Hopgood merited player of the game honors with his performance. He was 4-5 with a triple, 3 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win was credited to Joel Stapleton in relief. His record improves to 2-1. T.J. Hurd took the loss. Wichita has 3 straight wins, San Antonio 3 straight losses.
Hopgood had a game-changing triple in the top of the 11th. On a first pitch curveball from T.J. Hurd, he banged a 2-run triple to right-center, giving the Wolverines a 4-2 lead. It was the 1st triple of the year for Hopgood.
"I thought we played a nice game," Hopgood told the Wichita Daily News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
