| Wolverines Turn Back Madison, 4-2 | Madison right fielder Miguel Ortiz had a good game, even if his team did not. The Beehive dropped a 4-2 decision to Wichita at Howling Park. Ortiz went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Jeff Farrar, who threw 102 pitches over 5 innings. The left-hander was charged with 2 runs on 5 hits. Joel Stapleton converted his 17th save in 21 tries.
Willie Diaz had a big run-scoring double for the Wolverines in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Wichita trailing 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Emilio Archuleta and stroked the double to left. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wolverines ahead, 2-1.
Diaz attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
The third-place Wolverines lifted their record to 30-26.
