| Big Day with Bat: Salazar 6-for-8 | Danny Salazar knows as well as anyone that in baseball, the biggest contracts go to the biggest hitters. At Cowboys Stadium today, he made his case to be considered among that group.
The 24-year-old shortstop hammered 6 hits in 8 chances, though the remarkable effort came even as his Wichita Wolverines fell, 7-6, to the Carson City Mustang.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," Mustang manager Todd Barrett told BNN sportswriters after the game. "Thankfully, we were able to do enough elsewhere that Salazar wasn't the difference."
Danny Salazar singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off Matt Stevenson in the 9th, grounded out in the 10th, singled in the 12th and hit a two-run double in the 14th.\n
Hitting .315 to date, Salazar has 2 home runs and 10 RBIs. He has played in 42 games. |
