Pioneers Roll to 9-1 Win Over Bombers

The Vancouver Pioneers beat the South Carolina Bombers, 9-1, at "The Fort" at B.C. Place. Vancouver center fielder Justin Nance earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He slugged 2 home runs. Reggie Casteel got the win, improving to 1-3. He held the Bombers to no earned runs on 3 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 2. The last-place Pioneers lifted their record to 14-25.

Mike Duren, who is tied for 7th in the TML with a .328 batting average, aided the Vancouver cause with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, the right fielder went 1-2 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"It was a tough night at the plate," said South Carolina manager Randy Huggett.
