Vesuvius Fall Short, 5-4, at Marysville

The Marysville Monarchs knocked off the Cape Verde Vesuvius, 5-4, at Mitts Fieldhouse. Matt Pepple, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Marysville won. The left fielder was 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Orlando Rivas converted his 5th save in 6 tries. The Monarchs, at 34-21, lead by one game in their division.

Doug Djordjevic aided the Marysville cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the designated hitter was 2 for 5 with a triple and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Pepple told the Marysville Observer.
