| Beehive Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Hackers | Silicon Valley got a terrific performance from pitcher Josh Bradshaw, but it wasn't enough to beat the Madison Beehive. Madison won the The Hive contest, 5-4. Bradshaw was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Madison reliever Norihisa Hayasaka got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Steve Mauger was tagged with the loss. Waldo Perron recorded the save for Madison, his 12th of the season.
Had Roberto Alvarado not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Alvarado hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Beehive.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Silicon Valley manager Phillip Smith.
The Hackers, now 24-26, have lost 4 straight.
