Vesuvius Continue Skid Thanks to Melo, Robins

In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.

The Bristol Robins downed the Cape Verde Vesuvius, 12-4, at Conduit Caverns. The Robins were led by Danny Melo, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Bristol reliever Bobby Rodriguez was the winner. His record is now 3-2. Eduardo Muniz took the loss.

Bristol used a timely hit from Dave Turner to get the win. The left fielder delivered a bases-clearing triple in the top of the third inning to put the Robins on top, 8-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Melo. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
