| Bulldogs Clip Ducks in Tight Contest | The Spokane Bulldogs grabbed a 5-3 win over the Long Island Ducks at Long Island Stadium. Spokane catcher Bobby Bell went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 to earn player of the game honors. The winner was Chris Phillips in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Edgar Chavez took the loss. Ramon Romandia recorded his 11th save for Spokane.
Bell had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a first pitch fastball from Josh Huntsman, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Bulldogs a 5-3 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Bell.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Bell.
The Ducks, now 12-24, have lost 4 straight.
