| Ducks Prevail, 5-4, Over Buzzard's Bay | Despite a great performance by Buzzard's Bay left fielder Marco Curiel, the Long Island Ducks defeated the Beetlecats by the score of 5-4 at Long Island Stadium. Curiel went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Ricky Perez, the winner, improved to 1-1. He held the Beetlecats to 1 earned run on 3 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 4. The Beetlecats, now 15-14, continue their sluggish start.
Jaime Summers had a big 2-run single for the Ducks in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Long Island leading 3-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Javier Vargas and stroked the single to right. It was his 30th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Ducks ahead, 5-1.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Summers said.
