| Monarchs Trip Rats in Extras | The Marysville Monarchs eked out a 4-3 win versus the Rock River Rats at Mitts Fieldhouse. Nobody did more than pitcher Eddy Johnston, who captured player of the game honors. Marysville reliever Brian Reddin was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Anastasio Gómez took the loss. Marysville, now 17-11, has gotten their season off to a good start.
The Monarchs got a big at-bat from center fielder Cristián Rojas. For the game, Rojas went 1 for 1 with a walk. In the bottom of the 13th, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 6th hit of the season gave Marysville a 4-3 lead.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Johnston said.
