| Spartans Edge Hellcats, 3-2 | The Jacksonville Hellcats and Sandy Springs Spartans provided some drama at Hellcats Park.
Sandy Springs beat Jacksonville at Hellcats Park, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Manuel Montoya, who earned player of the game honors. In 7.1 innings, Montoya surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs.
The Spartans got a big at-bat from shortstop Aaron McGinnis. For the game, McGinnis went 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 5th double of the season gave Sandy Springs a 3-2 lead.
"I liked his command," said Sandy Springs manager José Parra. "Manuel was throwing strikes."
Sandy Springs is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 9th in 24 games.
