| Victory Pushes Vesuvius Record to 18-8 | Cape Verde beat DeKalb at Conduit Caverns, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to pinch hitter Adam Wendt, who earned player of the game honors. Cape Verde reliever Junichiro Kobayashi picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-2. Ismael Mejia was collared with the loss. The Vesuvius, now 18-8, have been red hot.
Wendt had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-0 fastball from Ismael Mejia, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Vesuvius a 4-3 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Wendt.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Wendt.
