| Wolverines Solve Black Bears, 6-2 | The Wichita Wolverines got a stellar effort from pitcher Garth Bankston, helping Wichita score a 6-2 win over the visiting Fraser Valley Black Bears. The winning pitcher was Bankston, now 2-1. He tossed 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 6 and fanning 4. The win brings the Wolverines to 10-8, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
The Wolverines got a big at-bat from designated hitter John Lary. For the game, Lary went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Wichita a 3-1 lead.
Lary told a Wichita Daily News reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
