The Cape Verde Vesuvius got a magnificent performance from pitcher T.J. Sparks, who stifled the Jacksonville offense en route to a 1-0 Vesuvius win at Hellcats Park. Francisco Morales recorded his 4th save for Cape Verde. Cape Verde, now 11-7, has gotten their season off to a good start.

It could have been a different outcome for Cape Verde, had it not been for Juan Estevez, the 25-year old second baseman . Estevez contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Cape Verde up, 1-0.

"The clubhouse can get insufferable after we lose, so I'm glad we pulled this one out today," Sparks told the Cape Verde Times.
