| Wolverines Lose, 8-4, at The Rat Hole | The Wichita Wolverines got a sterling performance from shortstop John Matchim, but the Rats still prevailed, 8-4. Matchim was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Kazue Fujita earned the win for Rock River. He lasted 7.2 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 9 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 3-0. Rock River, now 12-4, is playing great baseball to start the year.
The Rats got a big at-bat from first baseman Scott Cooke. For the game, Cooke was 1-3 with a walk. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 14th hit of the season gave Rock River a 1-0 lead.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Cooke told the Rock River Times.
