| Beetlecats Score Late to Upend Vesuvius, 4-2 | The Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats got a strong performance from pitcher Anton Garcia, who stymied the Cape Verde offense en route to a 4-2 win at Conduit Caverns. Buzzard's Bay reliever Carlos Garcia picked up the win to move to 1-1. Junichiro Kobayashi suffered the loss. Justin Keling earned save number 3.
Had Kanne te Wierik not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, te Wierik hit a bases-clearing double. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Beetlecats.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Garcia said after the game.
The win takes Buzzard's Bay to 6-8.
