| Vesuvius Win Thriller, 4-3 | With left fielder Gary Corbett leading the charge, the Cape Verde Vesuvius defeated the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats, 4-3, at Conduit Caverns. Corbett, who is tied for 10th in the CLL in total bases with 24, was 3-4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Cape Verde reliever Francisco Morales was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Tien Tran-Dinh took the loss. Cape Verde, now 9-5, has played well in the early going.
Corbett had a game-changing single in the bottom of the ninth. On a 1-0 fastball from Tien Tran-Dinh, he banged a run-scoring single to left-center, giving the Vesuvius a 4-3 lead. It was the 14th hit of the year for Corbett.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Corbett said.
