| Tune-Ups Score Late, Top Hackers, 7-5 | The Youngstown Tune-Ups beat the Silicon Valley Hackers, 7-5, at San Jose Municipal Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of shortstop Li-cong Ju, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times. Youngstown reliever Chris Long picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Chris Berreth absorbed the loss. Dave Dyke earned the save, his 4th, for the Tune-Ups.
The Tune-Ups got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Ivan Mena. For the game, Mena was 1 for 1 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season gave Youngstown a 7-5 lead.
"It was a solid team effort," said Mena after the game.
The loss lowers the Silicon Valley record to 5-5.
