| Monarchs Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start | It was a fun time at Mitts Fieldhouse, where the Pacifica Shamrocks and Marysville Monarchs tangled.
Pacifica got a terrific game from third baseman Dave Bayliss. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Marysville, 6-3. Bayliss was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3-3 with a triple, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. Marysville starter Javy Alvarado was credited with the win after throwing 102 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0.
Frank Wickett aided the Marysville cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the right fielder went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Wickett.
Marysville is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 2nd in 5 games.
