| Black Bears Lose, 11-5, at The Kennel | Getting a good performance from left fielder Ross Stephenson, the Spokane Bulldogs defeated the Fraser Valley Black Bears, 11-5. Stephenson was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs for the Bulldogs. Spokane starter Gilbert Beckmann was credited with the win after throwing 104 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Spokane, now 3-2, has gotten their season off to a good start.
The Bulldogs got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jorge Santoyo. For the game, Santoyo went 1-5. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 1st hit of the season gave Spokane a 2-1 lead.
"We maximized our offense today," said Spokane skipper Martín Torres. "That makes everyone's life easier."
