Earning player of the game honors was catcher Hiyutaro Ushijima, who went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 4 times. The save was credited to Ray Burns, his 3rd. DeKalb, now 3-0, has gotten their season off to a good start.
It could have been a different outcome for DeKalb, had it not been for Yodo Nakashima, the 28-year old shortstop . Nakashima contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the second inning to put DeKalb up, 1-0.
