| Mustang Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras | The Carson City Mustang and Cincinnati Snaps put on quite a show at The Studio.
Carson City withstood an impressive performance by Cincinnati third baseman Dane Maibach to defeat the Snaps, 9-7, at The Studio. Maibach went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Reliever Bob MacKay picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Shigeru Konishi took the loss.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Carlos Avendano came to bat in the top of the 12th. Facing Cincinnati pitcher Shigeru Konishi, he hit a full count cutter for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Carson City on top, 8-7.
"You win some, you lose some. I don't get too caught up in all that," said Avendano.
The Mustang keep rolling, raising their record to 2-0.
