| Wolverines Edge Storm Troopers, 3-2 | Fans of the Wichita Wolverines who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Wichita win over the visiting San Antonio Storm Troopers, 3-2. David Diaz started for the home team against Frank Ramos. Frank Ramos earned the coveted player of the game honors.
The Wolverines got a big at-bat from second baseman Gil Keyworth. For the game, Keyworth was 1-6, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the 12th, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 1st hit of the season gave Wichita a 3-2 lead.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Wichita manager Chris Carpenter.
