| Bears Continue Skid Thanks to Guinn, Sphinx | The Cairo Sphinx knocked off the Birmingham Bears, 9-3, at Edgbaston. George Guinn, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Cairo won. The first baseman went 3-3 with 3 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The last-place Bears have dropped 4 straight games.
