Victory Pushes Sphinx Record to 88-70

Cairo pitcher Julio Rivera did his part in helping his team beat the Bowling Green Racers, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Rivera went 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 3-4. William MacDougal was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 23 save opportunities.

The Sphinx got a big at-bat from left fielder John Johnson. For the game, Johnson went 1 for 3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 186th hit of the season gave Cairo a 2-0 lead.
