| Phantoms Bang Out 9-6 Win Versus Indian Wells | The Coronado Phantoms grabbed a 9-6 win over the Indian Wells Aeropostales at Phantoms Field. Coronado designated hitter Kuniaki Tanaka was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once to earn player of the game honors. Reliever Javier Sánchez picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. John Huo took the loss. At 61-93, Coronado is in last place in the RCL AAA Bobby Cox Division.
Tanaka contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Coronado in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 3-0, Tanaka took a changeup from John Huo and stroked the home run to left-center. His 18th home run of the season allowed the Phantoms to leap in front, 4-3.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Tanaka. "And not try to do too much."
