| Fireballs Get Close Win Over Bumblebees | The Joplin Fireballs scored a 3-2 win versus the Pasadena Bumblebees at The Hole. Joplin pitcher Roy Aitken nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Jason Graves, credited with the save, is now 28 for 30 in save opportunities. The slumping Bumblebees have lost 8 straight.
The Fireballs got a big at-bat from left fielder Art Barker. For the game, Barker was 1 for 2 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 41st double of the season gave Joplin a 3-2 lead.
"The want-to is there for our guys," said Pasadena manager Wilfred Brooks. "We'll get this thing turned around."
