| Gravel Helps Bears Run Win Streak to 3 | The Birmingham Bears beat the Bowling Green Racers, 9-8, at Edgbaston. Birmingham designated hitter Joe Gravel earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Birmingham reliever Mike Johnson picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Masamichi Takeda shouldered the loss. Daniel Farley notched his 12th save in 16 chances.
Anton Guzman, who is tied for 10th in the RAAA in home runs with 20, chipped in for Birmingham with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the right fielder had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Birmingham manager António Álvarez.
