Bears Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Racers

The Birmingham Bears defeated the Bowling Green Racers, 8-6, in RCL AAA action at Edgbaston, with Birmingham first baseman Victor Manzo named player of the game. Daniel Farley was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 11 of 15 save opportunities. The Bears, at 63-88, sit in 5th place in the RCL AAA Tony La Russa Division.

Manzo had a game-changing single in the bottom of the eighth. On a 0-1 fastball from Kevin Bongarzone, he banged a run-scoring single to left-center, giving the Bears a 7-6 lead. It was the 53rd hit of the year for Manzo.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager António Álvarez said.
