| Coal Miners Clip Fireballs, 7-6 | Despite a fine performance by shortstop Kazuaki Kishi, the Joplin Fireballs suffered a 7-6 loss to the Antioch Coal Miners. Kishi went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. Matsuyo Koda got credit for the win, improving to 16-5. He allowed 5 runs on 8 hits in 7.1 innings. The first-place Coal Miners, at 95-51, now lead their division by 5½ games.
Bradley Jones, who is tied for 5th in the TAAA in hits with 157, aided the Antioch cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the shortstop went 1-5. He drove in 2 runs.
In postgame comments to the Antioch Observer, Jones said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
