| Fireballs Bang Out 6-3 Win Versus Astoria | The Joplin Fireballs topped the Astoria Argonauts, 6-3, in TMLAAA action at The Firepit. The player of the game was Joplin pitcher and Miyata, Japan native Seijii Matsumura. In 5.1 innings, Matsumura surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Jason Graves converted his 23rd save in 25 tries.
The Fireballs beat the Argonauts with some clutch hitting. The single by Jamie Thompson in the bottom of the first is a good example. With two down, Thompson gave his team the lead, 2-0, when he came through with the big hit.
Thompson attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
