| Multi-HR Game for Baker in 7-3 Win | 2038 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Coronado Phantoms.
The Joplin Fireballs topped the Coronado Phantoms by the score of 7-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to third baseman Jim Baker. Baker hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Fireballs on the day. Reliever Nick Hasselbring picked up the win. His record improves to 2-3. Adam Sullivan took the loss.
The Fireballs got a big at-bat from left fielder Art Barker. For the game, Barker went 2-4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 35th double of the season gave Joplin a 4-3 lead.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Barker.
The losing skid has reached 7 games for Coronado.
