| Sphinx Come Back Late to Top Bears | Birmingham first baseman Jim McNutt pounded Cairo Sphinx pitchers at Pharaoh's Temple, but it was not enough to keep the Bears from falling, 10-9. McNutt went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Cairo reliever William MacDougal picked up the win, upping his record to 5-10. Daniel Farley shouldered the loss. Cairo is now 69-58.
Devin West was the walk-off hero for Cairo. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Sphinx first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Birmingham manager António Álvarez. "The effort was great."
