| Cacti Score Late, Top Phantoms, 3-2 | Coronado got a terrific performance from pitcher Butch Haynes, but it wasn't enough to beat the Albuquerque Cacti. Albuquerque won the Albuquerque Sports Stadium contest, 3-2. Haynes was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 7-hit ball. Albuquerque reliever Hiroshi Nagasawa picked up the win, upping his record to 7-4. Joe Starring shouldered the loss. The Cacti bumped their record to 66-60 with this latest triumph.
Albuquerque's win came gift-wrapped. With one out in the bottom of the ninth, with the game tied, Roger Dorn reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run.
"I felt good up there," said Dorn. "I saw the ball well."
