| Hooper Hits 2 home runs in Kodiaks Win | The Calgary Kodiaks downed the Bronx Bombers, 8-6, at Bronx Ballpark. The Kodiaks were led by Harley Hooper, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4. The winner was Calgary reliever Joe Manfredi, now 1-1. The loser was Zong-yuan Sang. The Kodiaks bumped their record to 72-49 with this latest triumph.
Had Damian Ballesteros not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Ballesteros hit a 2-run single. That made the score 8-6, in favor of the Kodiaks.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Ballesteros.
