Fireballs Get Close Win Over Raiders

Behind a solid performance from catcher Reilly Corkum, the Joplin Fireballs defeated the Reno Raiders, 2-0. Corkum was 2-4 with 2 doubles for the Fireballs. Joplin reliever Jason Graves picked up the win to move to 4-6. Jose Razo suffered the loss. Joplin has now won 3 in a row.

Corkum had a game-changing double in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch curveball from Gerry LaForest, he banged a run-scoring double to left, giving the Fireballs a 1-0 lead. It was the 5th double of the year for Corkum.

"The old adage is true," said Corkum. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
