Red Rocket Field was the site of a tense game between the Reno Rockets and Birmingham Bears.

Jason Hammond pitched a gem to lead Birmingham to a 3-1 victory over the Reno Rockets. Daniel Farley was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 12 save opportunities.

Pete Farthing, who is tied for 7th in the RAAA with a .300 batting average, helped out the Birmingham cause in the top of the third inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the second baseman went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Reno skipper Wynn Decker, "and it cost us."

The Bears saw their win-loss record go to 55-66. At the same time, the Rockets fell to 49-74.
