| Kodiaks Stymie Astoria, Take 8-1 Win | The Calgary Kodiaks beat the Astoria Argonauts, 8-1, at Foothills Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of catcher Tooru Miyahira, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Calgary starter Steve Pickering was credited with the win after throwing 99 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Kodiaks.
Miyahira had a big at-bat with runners on 1st and 3rd in the bottom of the first inning, when he hit a 3-run home run. The Kodiaks went on to win.
"This win gets us that much closer to where we want to be," Miyahira said in postgame remarks.
