| Coal Miners Get Close Win Over Bombers | The Antioch Coal Miners beat the Bronx Bombers, 5-4, at The Coal Mine. The win was largely due to the efforts of catcher Juan Martínez, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Sung-your Park was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 25 of 30 save opportunities. The Coal Miners have an impressive 75-46 record.
Martínez had a game-changing single in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-0 fastball from Zong-yuan Sang, he banged a run-scoring single to right, giving the Coal Miners a 5-4 lead. It was the 35th hit of the year for Martínez.
"We've got a great group of guys," Martínez said, "and we're having fun right now."
