Flash Get Close Win Over Racers

The Fairfield Flash defeated the Bowling Green Racers, 7-3, at Top of the Hill. Fairfield shortstop Dave Evans was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Carlos Vela picked up the win, improving his season record to 7-6. He struck out 4 in 7 innings. The Flash bumped their record to 64-56 with this latest triumph.

Evans had a game-changing single in the top of the eighth. On a 1-0 cutter from Ryan Nichols, he banged a run-scoring single to center, giving the Flash a 4-3 lead. It was the 94th hit of the year for Evans.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Evans told the Fairfield Herald.
