| Racers Roll Bears, 7-5 | Bowling Green and Birmingham duked it out at Edgbaston and the Racers came out victorious.
Tony Gonzales was instrumental in his team's 7-5 triumph over the Birmingham Bears. The first baseman went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Bowling Green Racers. Bowling Green reliever Eddy Johnston picked up the win to move to 1-0. Francisco Palazuelos suffered the loss.
Gonzales had a game-changing double in the top of the sixth. On a 1-2 slider from Nobuhiko Newton, he banged a 2-run double to center, giving the Racers a 7-5 lead. It was the 7th double of the year for Gonzales.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Gonzales, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Bowling Green goes to 53-60, Birmingham to 51-63.
