Avila Slugs Tornadoes to 8-6 Win

Omar Avila made an impact in the 8-6 Kansas City win over Portland. Avila, who is tied for 7th in the TML in RBI with 21, belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The Tornadoes raised their record to 21-6.

Avila contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Kansas City in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 4-3, Avila took a knuckleball from Yoshiaki Kojima and stroked the home run to right. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Tornadoes to leap in front, 5-4.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Fernando Vargas said.
