| Bell goes 3-for-3, Mustangs Move to 67-44 | The Billings Mustangs and Joplin Fireballs obliged those fans who came to Cobb Field looking for a good time.
The Billings Mustangs topped the Joplin Fireballs, 8-7, with center fielder James Bell playing a big role. Bell went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Mustangs in the win. Billings reliever Cris Ayala picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-0. Nick Hasselbring was collared with the loss. Nicolas Joubert, credited with the save, is now 5 for 7 in save opportunities.
Had Toshimitsu Epps not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Epps hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Mustangs.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Bell.
The second-place Mustangs lifted their record to 67-44.
